The Clinton Herald Saturday April 13, 1935 p. 5 Mrs. Emma Barrien Howes, widow of Thomas R. Howes, died at 8:15 o'clock this morning in her home 1016 North Second street, following a four weeks' illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon in the late home. Dr. W.T. Smith of the First Methodist Episcopal church will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Emma Berrien was born Feb. 20, 1865, in Clinton, where she has always lived. Surviving her are three daughters and one son, John L. Howes, Mrs. Lucille Howes Chalker and Miss Elizabeth T. Howes of this city and Mrs. Laura Howes Tyler of Camanche; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews' also a sister and a brother, E.B. Berrien of Los Angeles and Mrs. C. E. Fenlon of this city. During her long residence in this city, Mrs. Howes was a faithful attendant at the First M.E. church.
