Thomas Howes 1858 - 1892

Clinton Daily Herald Friday September 16, 1892 Engineer Thomas Howes was born at Michigan City, Indiana, in December, of 1858, being at his death nearly 30 years of age. When only a few months old his parents moved to Clinton where he has since resided. In June of 1884 he was married to Miss Emma Berrien, who survives him, together with three little ones - a boy and two girls. In addition to parents and brothers and sisters, all living in this city. Fate had seemed to follow the deceased, for twice before had he escaped death in railroad accident by only a hair's breadth. He had been with the company as engineer since '83. The deceased was a generous and hearty fellow who made friends on all sides, being exceedingly popular among all railroad men. He was a prominent member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and will be sincerely mourned in the lodge room as well as in every circle where he was known. The funeral will be held to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence on Camanche avenue, services being conducted by Rev. S.C. Bronson.
