The Clinton Herald Tuesday April 19, 1960 p. 8 Percy E. Metzger, 58, of 621 6th Ave. S., died suddenly at 6:05 p.m. Monday at the Three Star Candy and Tobacco company which he owned. Friends may call at the Snell-Smith funeral home after 7:30 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Rose Croix services will be held. He was born June 2, 1902 in Clinton, the son of Edward and Martha Ehlers Metzger. He spent most of his life in Clinton. He graduated from the Clinton schools and the college of commerce at the State University of Iowa. He was employed by the Clinton National bank and later the Bank of Chicago. He was general manager of the Carstensen Freight Lines terminal in Chicago, and for the past 11 years he has been the owner of the Three Star Candy and Tobacco company, 69 Main St. On Dec. 31, 1942 he was united in marriage with Dorothy LeClear of Oak Park, Ill. He was a member of the First Congregational church, Lyons lodge AF and AM, DeMolay Consistory, Kaaba Shrine, FOE and the Odeon club. Survivors include his wife; one son, Walter, at hom; two sisters, Miss Florence Metzger and Mrs. Alma Wilson, both of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
