NASHVILLE, Tenn. — David M. McAndrews, former vice president and general manager, DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers, passed away on January 1, 2008, in Nashville, TN. Mr. McAndrews was 68. Mr. McAndrews had a 35-year career with E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, beginning with various sales and marketing assignments in the Chicago, Philadelphia and Wilmington areas. He also held early assignments as district manager for Consumer Paint, regional manager for Automotive Refinish Products in Dallas, assistant manager of DuPont’s Philadelphia Finishes plant, and manager of the Sponge and Fabricated Plastics plant in Columbia, TN. Mr. McAndrews returned to Wilmington in 1979 as marketing manager for Automotive Refinish Products. Later that year, he was named group managing director, Southeast Asia, for DuPont Asia Pacific Ltd. in Hong Kong. In early 1982, he returned to the U.S. and was appointed director of the Specialty Products Division in the Fabrics and Finishes Department and held that post when the Finishes and Fabricated Products Department was formed. Mr. McAndrews later held assignments as director of Business Planning for the Corporate Plans Department, director-marketing liaison and vice chairman of the Corporate Marketing Liaison Committee, and director of the Marketing Division in the Chemicals and Pigments Department. He was named vice president and general manager, Industrial Polymers, on August 1, 1989, and became vice president and general manager, DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers, the position from which he retired in November 1991. Mr. McAndrews was born April 3, 1939, in Clinton, IA. He attended the University of Notre Dame, then served in the U.S. Navy, and graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1964 with a bachelor of science degree in public administration. He was a director of the World Affairs Council, a member of the Notre Dame Alumni Association and the Greenville Country Club. He was also a member of the Polymeric Materials Producers Division of the Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. Following his retirement, Mr. McAndrews engaged his interest in history by extensive world travel. Additionally, he was an avid sailor and outdoorsman and was widely known for his extraordinary wit. Mr. McAndrews is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Centreville, DE; a son, Davin, his wife, Susan, and two children, Davin and Mitchell of San Francisco; two daughters, Cynthia, her husband, Dr. Jonathan Evans, and three children, Hayley, Drake and Teagan of Nashville, and Heather, her husband, Raoul Schuddeboom, and two children, Willem and Alexander of London, England; and a stepson, Jonathan Reese, his wife, Jennifer, and two children, Olivia and Julia also of Centreville. He is also survived by a sister, Monica Lahey of Greenwich, CT.; and two brothers, George of Barrington, IL, and Tom of Ponta Vedra, FL. He is predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Jerome, and one sister, Virginia. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, January 7 at St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine in Greenville at 10:00 a.m. where friends may call at 9:00 a.m. There will be a visitation at the Chandler Funeral Home on Sunday, January 6 from 4 to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Rd., Greenville, DE 19807. Death date: Jan. 1, 2008
