CLINTON — Adeline M. Harmsen, age 95, of Clinton, died Tuesday Jan. 1, 2008, at Bluff Terrace Nursing Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Brinkmann officiating. Visitation will be held Friday 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the church. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery. The casket bearers will be her grandsons and nephews. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church. Adeline was born on May 14, 1912, in Clinton, IA, the daughter of John and Martha (Eickert) Cosman. She married Ervin Harmsen on Aug. 20, 1931, in Clinton; he died in 1959. She was a homemaker and worked as a certified nurses aid for many years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, Sewing Club and the Over 50 Club. She was chairman of the Jackson County Cancer Crusade for over 10 years. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and crossword puzzles. Adeline is survived by two daughters, Mary Petersen of Cottage Grove, MN, and Verna (Horne) Hodge of Hahira, GA; her son, Gary (Vicky) Harmsen of Clinton; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Clausen of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Paul in 1960, three sisters and three brothers.Death date: Jan. 1, 2008
