The Clinton Herald Friday August 18, 1961 p. 8 Mrs. Christine Carstensen, 97, former resident of Clinton, died Thursday in Jackson, Mich., where she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Alma Hellinger, since 1942. The bod will be brought to the Snell-Smith funeral home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held Monday at a time to be announced later. Christine Johannsen was born July 16, 1864 in Engel. Schleswig-Holstein, German, the daughter of Johann and Catherine Johannsen, and came to this country in 1885. She was married May 29, 1885 to Sanke Carstensen in Clinton. Surviving are one son, John Carstensen of Clinton; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Moshier, Mrs. Fred (Carlein) Rosa and Mrs. Hellinger, all of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Mrs. John Johnson and another daughter in infancy.
