The Clinton Herald Tuesday November 13, 1984 p. 12 Eugene S. Machael, 74, of 1140 Woodlawn Ave., died Sunday at Jane Lamb Health Center following an extended illness. Machael was currently president of Machael Enterprises and the former owner and president of Machael Oil Company. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zorning Funeral Home with the Rev. Horst Hehr, Chaplain of Jane Lamb Health Center, and the Rev. Paul O. Pfalzgraff, First United Methodist Church, officiating. A Masonic Rose Croix service, conducted by Paul Eastland, will be held in conjunction wi the regular services. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Ron Allendorf, Doug Trembath, Jim Leithner, Ron Kircher, Gordon Lanning, and Reynold P. Jurgensen. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Fink, George Morris, Henry Norman, John Van Allen, Harry Pape, John Townsend, Robert H. Snell and Stanley Webber. Mr. Machael was born Aug. 24, 1910, in Clinton, to Sam and Christine Larson Machael. He married Jeannette Johnson, Aug. 8, 1935, in Sterling, Ill. A life-long resident of Clinton, Mr. Machael attended Clinton schools and was a 1929 graduate of Clinton High School. He attended Wartburg College and was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy. Mr. Machael was a member of First United Methodist Church, Western Star Lodge No. 100 A.F. & A.M., Clinton Consistory, Kaaba Shrine, past president and a member of the Board of Directors of Jane Lamb Health Center, a Board Member of the Sarah Harding Home, one of the founders of the Wyncrest Nursing Home, and a Past Chairman of the Board of Clinton Federal Savings and Loan. Mr. Machael was the 1974 KROS Man of the Year, a member and Past President of the Clinton Gyro Club, a member of the Clinton Kiwanis Club, a former member of the Clinton Development Commission, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion Post No. 190 of Clinton. Survivors include his wife; a son, Eugene R. Machael of Clinton; two daughters, Betty Oakley and Mrs. Charles (Mary) Shaw, both of Clinton; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Marian Moss of Lancaster, Calif.; and a brother, Harold Machael of Maquoketa. He was preceded in death by a brother.
