The Clinton Herald Saturday December 10, 1949 p. 10 William O. Wogens, 79, secretary and treasurer of the Clinton Book Bindery company, died unexpectedly early this morning in his home, 230 Second avenue South. The body is in the Snell funeral home where friends may call after 8 o'clock tonight. Funeral services are planned for Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Mr. Wogens was born Jan. 5, 1870 in Fuhr, Germany. He was the son of William and Caroline Wogens. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the age of 16, Mr. Wogens came to the United States, settling first at Sabula. He moved to Clinton where he was employed by the Age Publishing company as a bookbinder. Later he founded the Clinton Book Bindery company. On June 29, 1899, Mr. Wogens married Miss Nellie Finch in Clinton. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last summer. He was a member of Emulation lodge, 255, A.F. and A.M., the Modern Woodmen's lodge and of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church. He is survived by his wife; one son, Carroll, and one daughter, Mrs. J.K. O'Neill, both of Cedar Falls, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
