THOMSON, Ill. — Roland J. Bush, 79, 6607 Riverview Road, Thomson, IL, died Saturday, December 15, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center South, Clinton, IA. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at the Fulton Chapel Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Bonestroo, pastor of Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at the Fulton Chapel Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Mercy Renal Dialysis, Spring Valley Reformed Church and Mercy Hospice. He was born May 08, 1928, in Garden Plain, IL, to John M. and Gertrude (Hook) Bush. He was educated in rural Cordova and Albany, IL, schools. He married Norma R. Huizenga on November 26, 1946, in Erie, IL. She died Oct. 14, 2007. He served in the Merchant Marines and served during WWII. After returning from the war, he worked for Herman Nelson in Morrison, IL, and farmed in the Erie, Barstow, Chadwick, Thomson and Fulton areas. He was also a Teamster out of Rock Island Local 371. Following retirement in 1990, he and his wife, Norma, moved to Dickson, TN, and returned to Thomson (Riverview) in 1995. He was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL. He coached various youth baseball teams and enjoyed watching the Cubs and Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, especially baseball and softball. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Mrs. Wesley) Temple of Princeton, IL, and Debbie (Mrs. Larry “Bim”) McGinnis of Thomson, IL; four sons, David (Pat) Bush of Nashville, TN, Richard (Pamela) Bush of Bethalto, IL, Doug (Nancy) Bush of Fulton, IL, and Drew (Karmin) Bush of Chadwick, IL; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Fredrickson and Mrs. Jeanette House, both of Moline, IL, Dorothy (Jim) Hallenbeck of Cocoa Beach, FL; and one brother, George “Bud” Bush of Fremont, CA.
