Soenksen, David P. "Louie"

OSHKOSH, Wis. — David “Louie” P. Soenksen, 52, of Oshkosh, died Friday December 7 at Alterra Sterling House in Neenah, Wis.A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, in Clinton Lawn Cemetary. Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Oshkosh, is in charge of the arrangements. He was born January 18, 1955, in New London, Wis., the son of August and Vernetta Thielen Soenksen. He moved to Clinton in 1959, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1973. In 1980, he graduated from Iowa State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he practiced veterinary medicine in Walcott, Dubuque, and Cedar Rapids, and Oshkosh. He owned his own private veterinary practice in Wheatland, from 1983 until 1990. Louie was a loyal fan of both the Iowa State Cyclones and Green Bay Packers. He is survived by two daughters, Shayna Soenksen of Boston, Mass., and Alyssa Soenksen of Cedar Falls; two brothers, John (Jenny) Soenksen of Bettendorf and Roger (Cathy) Soenksen of Harrisonburg, Va.; one sister, Bette (Alan) Dean of Broomfield, Colo., a sister-in-law, June Soenksen of Clinton; an aunt, Luella Soenksen Anderson; cousins Ron Soenksen, Jim Soenksen and Tom Soenksen and Cindy Soenksen Swanson; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dale Soenksen, and a nephew Michael Soenksen.
