Behrens, Mary Jane E.

SMYRNA, DEL. — Mary Jane E. Behrens of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away at home Thursday December 6, 2007. She was 82. Mrs. Behrens was born February 5, 1925, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Sear Meader. Mrs. Behrens owned and operated Smyrna Day Nursery for the last 41 years. She was a past president of the David C. Harrison Post #14 Ladies Auxiliary, a former chapter president of the Air Force Sergeants Auxiliary, a past committee woman of the 28th District Democratic Club, a past president of the Kent County Board of Elections and she was very active in her community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Behrens. She is survived by two daughters, Carole J. Satterfield and her husband, Roger of Kenton, Delaware and Sherry B. Forbes and her husband, Clynn of Smyrna; three sons, Charles A. and John M. Behrens both of Smyrna and Scott M. Behrens of Clayton, Delaware; a sister, Shirley M. Neiman of Clinton, Iowa; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren. In addition to her family, other caregivers were Linda Atkins of Kenton, Delaware and Rhonda Snow of Smyrna. Services will be Tuesday December 11, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware. #
