Josephine Airhart, age 89, of Mt. Carroll passed away December 2, 2007, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church with Reverend Mark Harkness officiating. Inurnment will be in Wheaton Cemetery, Wheaton, Illinois, at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00–7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5 2007 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carroll Methodist Church, the Caroline Mark Home, Mt. Carroll or the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll in Josephine’s name.
Josephine was born December 20, 1917, the daughter of Richard and Josephine (Van Buskirk) Coady in Moline, Illinois. She graduated from Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1937. Josephine worked at the Marth Variety Store in Mt. Carroll, she moved to California and went to work for the Williams Gas Company in the accounting department; she then worked for an airport service company in the Clairmont, California area. In 1986, Josephine returned to Mt. Carroll to take care of her mother who lived at the Caroline Mark Home, Mt. Carroll. On June 9, 1989, she married Allen Airhart in the Mt. Carroll Methodist Church. Josephine was a member of the Mt. Carroll Methodist Church and the Eastern Star Organization for over fifty years. She volunteered at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, where she served on the Auxiliary and Advisory Board and found time to make quilts for the Senior Center in Mt. Carroll. Josephine stayed active and loved giving of herself to family, friends and neighbors. She and Allen traveled all around the world and enjoyed every minute of it.
Josephine will be dearly missed by her husband, Allen of Mt. Carroll; three stepsons, Mac (Vonla) Airhart of Wheaton, Illinois, Steve (Anne) Airhart of Marmora, Ontario, Canada and Bob Airhart of Savanna, Illinois; five step-grandchildren and four step- great grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray and an infant brother, Patrick.
