LOST NATION — Lowell E. Richey, 91 of Lost Nation, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, December 10, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation, with the Rev. Paul Skelley officiating. Burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery, Lost Nation, Iowa, with military honors accorded by Lost Nation American Legion Menzo Widle Post 381. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation. Lowell E. Richey was born on January 12, 1916, in Toronto, Iowa, to Lawrence and Anna (Brauer) Richey. He married Mary Koranda on May 11, 1939, in Anamosa, Iowa. She died on January 28, 1993. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in field artillery. He was a truck driver and a farmer and had also worked at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Anamosa. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Lost Nation. He was a very active member of Lost Nation American Legion Menzo Widle Post 381 for over 50 years. He is survived by one daughter, Carol (Bruce) Bird, Alameda, California; 5 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and one brother, David ((Barbara) Schutt, Wheatland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; a stepdaughter, Rosemary Bonney; his parents and two brothers. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.laheys.com.Death date: Dec. 4, 2007
