CAMANCHE — Hugh “Jerry” Lamont, 62, of Camanche and Mechanicsville, died Monday December 3, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, from complications due to pancreatic cancer. Funeral services 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol of Camanche, two sons, Hugh John and Sean Christian and wife Susan both of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Allisha of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a stepdaughter, Angela Balster and her children Trey, Caitlin, and Marcus Balster, all from Cedar Rapids.Preceding Jerry in death were his parents Hugh and Geraldine Green Lamont.Jerry was born April 17, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1963 and attended the University of Iowa. He worked with his parents in Hugh Lamont Chrysler Plymouth dealership in Mechanicsville, in the mid sixties until the late seventies and during that time he graduated from Chrysler Plymouth Training School. He married Kathryn Tonne and that union produced two sons. They were later divorced. Jerry performed duties of council and mayor of Mechanicsville. He married Carol Balster on July 4, 2005, in Mechanicsville. Jerry went into economic development. He was elected to Professional Developers of Iowa, Mid American Economic Development Council, American Economic Development Council, Iowa League of Cities, where he served as president. Jerry was director of Business Development for Howard R. Green, consulting engineers. He was president and C.E.O. of Clinton Area Development Corporation, retiring January 1, 2007.
