Golda M. Gilmore, age 94, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Wednesday morning, November 28, 2007, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 1, 2007, from the East Iron Hill Community Church, rural Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Friday, November 30, 2007, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the East Iron Hill Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

Golda M. Rockwell was born on December 9, 1912 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Robert D. Rockwell and Tacy L. (Thompson) Rockwell. She was educated in Newcastle Country School through the 8th grade. She married Dean Gilmore on October 28, 1933 in Andrew, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1996.

Golda was a homemaker and had farmed with her husband 1 mile northeast of Iron Hill for many years.

Golda was a longtime member of the East Iron Hill Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She also was an avid Lawrence Welk fan, and enjoyed watching beauty pageants. She was always concerned about others and was known by her family as a kind, caring, generous unselfish person who would do anything for anyone.

Golda is survived by: children- Diana (Lowell) Henry of Maquoketa, IA, Larry (Lorraine) Gilmore of Maquoketa, IA, John (Alice) Gilmore of Maquoketa, IA, & Tom (Mary) Gilmore of Maquoketa, IA; a sister-in-law- Alice Joyce Rockwell of Maquoketa, IA; 7 grandchildren- David (Kim) Gilmore, Debbie Gilmore, Danny (Linda) Gilmore, Lori Ann (Bruce) Waugh, Heidi (Michael) Coyle, Heather (Bryan) Hafner & Jeremy (Sandy) Gilmore; 14 great-grandchildren; & numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 8 brothers- John, Clifford, Alva, Ardith, Lewis, Myron, Forrest, & Glen; 5 sisters- Fern, Hazel, Macel, Stacie & Opal; 1 grandson- Tony Henry, & 1 great-grandchild- Crystal.

A Golda M. Gilmore Memorial Fund has been established.
