Judy Ann Polkinghorn, age 59, of Preston, Iowa, died on Saturday morning, November 24, 2007, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, at her home in rural Preston, Iowa.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 28, 2007, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa, with Chaplain/Celebrant Rev. Ruth Ann Scott of Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 P.M. on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Andrew, IA Cemetery.
Judy Singelman was born on August 13, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa, to George H. Singelman and Rose M. (Lippens) Singelman. She was a graduate of DeWitt Central High School. She married Delbert L. Polkinghorn on February 24, 1970 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Judy had worked at Collis Inc. in Clinton, Iowa as a welder. Her hobbies and interests included baking and making chocolate chip cookies. She loved being outside during the summer as she enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and mowing. She also loved her grandchildren, and was especially fond of drinking iced tea and lemonade.
Judy is survived by: her husband- Delbert Polkinghorn of Preston, IA; daughters- Tammy (Dan) Olson of Maquoketa, IA, Patty (Jamie) Staner of Monmouth, IA, & Connie Polkinghorn of Preston, IA; 9 grandchildren; her mother- Rose Singelman of DeWitt, IA; 1 brother- Jim Singelman of Charlotte, IA; & 2 sisters- Deb (Alfie) Mohr of Miles, IA, & Darlene (Nate Hall) Mizer of Davenport, IA. She was preceded in death by her father.
A Judy Ann Polkinghorn Memorial Fund has been established.
