CLINTON — John D. Starr, age 91, of Clinton, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Tuesday Nov. 27, 2007, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, and a memorial service will be held next Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Berwyn, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded and an inurnment burial will be held at the Waupaca City Cemetery in Waupaca, WI, at a later date. John was born on March 14, 1916, in Chicago, IL, the son of Bradford and Margaret (Doyle) Starr. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1941 to 1945. He married Mary Solon in 1941 in Chicago, IL; she died in 1997. John worked for the City of Chicago for over 44 years, serving as the Deputy Water Commissioner, retiring in 1978. John is survived by his five children, Mrs. Regina (Keith) Johnson of Elmhurst, IL, Tim (Diana) Starr of Clinton, IA, Tom (Donna) Starr of Elmwood Park, IL, Dan (Susan) Starr of Chesterton, IN, and Joe (Dawn) Starr of Berwyn, IL; 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ewell Williams of Lombard, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Patricia.Death date: Nov. 27, 2007
