Klone, Marguerite

CLINTON — Marguerite Klone of Clinton, Iowa, (formerly of York, Nebraska) passed away November 23, 2007, at her home. She was born on September 28, 1920, to Benson and Viva (Peterson) Clithero in Sterling, Colorado. Later she grew up on the family farm near York, Nebraska. After her education, she worked as a bookkeeper for an attorney and also employed by Nebraska Light and Power. On October 24, 1941, she was united in marriage to Weselyn W. Klone in Grand Island, Nebraska. After joining the military, they spent time on several bases in the United States until Wes’s deployment to Europe where he served on the beaches of Normandy as well as in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. After his return, Marguerite and Wes moved to a farm near York. They enjoyed farm life raising their two children, Vicki and Gary. Marguerite especially enjoyed traveling with her husband, the York Drum and Bugle Corps, listening to Wes play the organ at home, reading, shopping and hosting family dinners and holiday celebrations. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York. Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents and one infant son.Left to cherish her memory are her two children, daughter, Vicki Staehr and husband, Douglas, of Stromsburg, Nebraska; son, Gary Klone and wife, Amber, of Clinton, Iowa. Six grandchildren, Wendi Svehla of Holdrege, Nebraska, Curt Staehr of Columbus, Nebraska, Blake Staehr and wife, Kristi (Jones), of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Branden Klone and fiancée, Jenna, and sons, of Clinton, Iowa, DaLonne (Klone) Grubaugh and her husband Troy of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Cassie Klone of Clinton, Iowa. Marguerite adored her eight great-grandchildren, Austyn and Brittnye Svehla of Holdrege, Nebraska, Trevor and Jared Staehr of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Jacob, Alicia and Tonya Klone of Clinton, Iowa, and Zoe Grubaugh of Cheyenne, Wyoming.Marguerite is survived by one sister, Pat Kutnewsky and husband, Drace, of San Jose, California, one Aunt Elaine Peterson of York, Nebraska, and several nieces and nephews.Marguerite was extremely proud of her family’s service to our nation, besides her husband, Weselyn; her son, son-in-law, one nephew, two granddaughters, two grandsons and one grandson-in-law have served or are still serving our country in the armed forces.Marguerite enjoyed her last four years at Sarah Harding and loved her family there. She wanted family members to extend her gratitude for all the love shown to her. Sarah Harding is truly a gift to the community of Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in York, Nebraska, Thursday, November 29, 2007, at 10:00 AM.A memorial service will be held in Clinton, IA, at the Sarah Harding Chapel Sunday, December 2, 2007, at 2:30 p.m.Death date: Nov. 23, 2007
