FALLSTONE, Md. — Dorothea “Dottie” B. Duerling, 86, of Fallston, Maryland, formerly of Clinton, died Friday, November 16, 2007, at Oak Crest Care Facility, Parkville, Maryland. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Oak Crest Care Chapel, Parkville, Maryland, with Pastor James Ditto officiating. Per her wishes, Mrs. Duerling’s body has been donated for anatomical research to the Maryland State Anatomy Board. Eva Dorothea Beigel was born on March 27, 1921, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Robert and Anna (McGregor) Beigel. She married James Ray Duerling on April 25, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland. Dottie was a graduate of Eastern High School of Baltimore, Maryland, class of 1939.Dottie and her husband moved to Clinton in September 1958 with then Lord Baltimore Press. They moved back to Maryland when International Paper purchased Lord Baltimore Press in June 1966. Dottie was a homemaker. She sold Tupperware while in Clinton. Dottie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clinton and later a member of the Fallston United Methodist Church in Fallston, Maryland. She loved to make people feel at home and always welcomed you with some drink and cookies. Her favorite past times were playing board games (especially scrabble), spending time with her family, and always — always helping others. She never liked to sit still. Her favorite time was Christmas and every year anxiously anticipated helping at the annual Fallston United Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar.Dottie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ray, of the Oak Crest Care Facility in Parkville, Maryland; two sons, Dennis Duerling of Clinton, Iowa, and his children, Denell (Doug) Norem and Drew (Nicole) Duerling of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and David Duerling and his wife, Donna, of Bel Air, Maryland, and their children, Sarah, Katie and Kristen Duerling of Bel Air, Maryland; four great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Norem and Tyler and Colton Duerling, all of Cedar Rapids. Dottie is preceded in death by her parents.
