Holcomb, Robert Allen "Bob"

DESOTO, Texas — Robert (Bob) Allen Holcomb, age 85, died in his home surrounded by his loving family on November 18, 2007, in Desoto, Texas. Bob was born to Nina Belle and Everett Holcomb on February 15, 1922, in Paris, Illinois. He lived the majority of his life in Clinton, Iowa, having graduated from Clinton High School in 1941.Bob married Marian McDonald on September 22, 1944. They resided for 45 years at 516 17th Avenue South, where they raised 3 children. Bob was employed at the DuPont Cellophane Plant for 30 years. Bob was also one of the founding members of Chancy Lutheran Church in Clinton, Iowa. Bob and Marian were the organizers, and Bob served as the first “wagonmaster” of the Tag-A-Long Trailer Club. Bob and Marian then retired to Florida in 1979, and moved to the Dallas area in 2004 to be closer to family. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years; 3 children, Steve Holcomb of Rowlett, Texas; Carol Dietz of Duncanville, Texas; and Scott Holcomb of Phoenix, Arizona; his sister, Helen Brumm of Bettendorf, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and innumerable friends. Bob was preceded in death by 2 sons and a daughter, his parents, and 2 brothers.A memorial service, celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at the New Life in Christ Lutheran Church, 311 South Cockrell Hill Road, Duncanville, Texas, 75116-4040. Memorials should be directed to the New Life in Christ memorial fund.Death date: Nov. 18, 2007
