The Clinton Herald Wednesday December 30, 1915 p. 8 John B. Ahrens, at one time city attorney of Clinton, prominent in law circles of the county, and for years secretary of the Clinton District Fair association, an ex-director of the L.Y.M.A., died at Des Moines Monday evening, December 28, after an illness of five months. The cause of death was due to heart trouble and Bright's disease. He was 43 years old at the time of his demise. The deceased resided in this city until about a year ago when he moved to Des Moines, where he was interested in the automobile business with his brother-in-law. His wife left this city some five months ago and was with him until the end. John B. Ahrens was born in Center township in 1871. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and attended Drake university, Des Moines, where he completed the law course. On July 10, 1897, he was united in marriage to Miss Madge Taylor in Mankoto, Minn. A few years late they removed to this city where Mr. Ahrens engaged in law practice. Besides his bereaved wife, his is survived by four children, Alice, Richard and Jeannette, and three ssiters, Mrs. George Ingwersen and Mrs. Winnie Ingwersen, of Fulton, Ill., and one sister in Sioux Falls. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in Des Moines with interment in that city.
