The Clinton Herald Thursday November 7, 1935 p. 9 The Rev. Patrick Burke, S.J., 70, pastor of St. Francis Xavier church, St. Louis, Mo., and uncle of Dr. J.C. Burke of this city, died early yesterday in Louisiana, Mo., from injuries suffered Monday when his car was struck by a truck. Father Burke was en route to Davenport to visit his brother, Dr. T.J. Burke, father of the Clinton physician, when the accident occurred. Dr. Burke, his father and brother, Charles, of Davenport were at Father Burke's bedside when he died. Funeral services are to be held at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning in the church which the priest had served as pastor. Father Burke was born in DeWitt, and received his education there and in St. Ambrose college, Davenport. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Burke, pioneer settlers of Clinton county. He was for many years pastor of the St. Peter's and Paul's church, Detroit, Mich. Surviving are the brother, Dr. Burke, Davenport, two nephews, Dr. Jerome C. Burke, Clinton, and Charles Burke, Davenport; five sisters, Sister M. Alphonsus, Cedar Rapids, Sister M. Bonaventure, Elma, Iowa, Mrs. Margaret Goodall, DeWitt, Mrs. J.R. McClenahan, Mitchell, S.D., and Mrs. Ida Glynn, Kalispell, Mont.
