The Clinton Herald Thursday August 25, 1938 p. 5 Hans Roenfeldt, 44, West Main avenue, Clinton, died of a broken neck at about 10 p.m. Wednesday night at the Gus Lueders farm four miles west of Clinton on primary road No. 136. Roenfeldt's body was found at 6:30 a.m. today hanging to a rope fastened to a base bar on a windmill at the Lueders farm. Mr. Lueders, stockfeeder, who does not live at the farm, made the discovery when he arrived at his farm this morning. He notified Sheriff C.S. Petersen, and Deputy Sheriff Chris Stamp and Coroner L.O. Riggert conducted an official investigation. They announced there was no evidence to foul play. No motive for Roenfeldt's act is known, officers said. Roenfeldt was married three months ago to Mrs. Pauline Stamp of Clinton who was in a state near collapse today when informed of her husband's death. Relatives searched for him last hight when he failed to arrive home at the usual time. Mrs. Roenfeldt was unable to throw any light on the case which would disclose a motive for suicide. The deceased was employed by the Shell Gasoline Corp. as a truck driver. The body was removed to the Pape funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Pape funeral home. Burial will be in Center Grove cemetery.
