Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. Following the visitation, a Masonic service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
SERVICES: 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

ELIZABETH, Ill. — Russell Arnold Roberts, 91, of Elizabeth, died Saturday at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque. Burial will be in Welsh Hollow Cemetery, Woodbine, Ill.

He was born March 17, 1916, in Freeport, Ill., to Charles and Minnie Arnold Roberts. He graduated from Stockton (Ill.) High School in 1934. He owned and operated a dairy and beef farm in rural Elizabeth. He also drove truck for Woodbine Creamery and Breed’s Livestock, Elizabeth. He also was employed by the Savanna (Ill.) Army Ordnance Depot during World War II and was a sheriff’s deputy in Jo Daviess (Ill.) County for many years. He was a member of Cavanaugh Masonic Lodge 36 in Elizabeth for more than 50 years. He also was a past member of the Elizabeth School Board.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Fred (Diane) Roberts of Franklin, Ill., and Norman (Doreen) Roberts of Bethleham, Pa.; three daughters, Patsy Groezinger Schaible of Elizabeth, Shirley (Robert) Wetherill of Stanten Island, N.Y., and Nancy Roberts of Lanesville, Ind.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
