Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Law Jones Funeral Home, Sabula.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula with Reverend Robert Krueger officiating.

SABULA — Dorothea Papke, 91, of Sabula, died Thursday at Mercy Medical Center–Clinton.Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. A luncheon will be provided at the church after the interment.

She was born to Otto and Mathilda Stahl Raether on Nov. 7, 1915. She married Ray Papke of Sabula in Westgate in 1941 and lived in Washington D.C., and Chicago. She was educated at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, and worked as a rural elementary school teacher in the Marshalltown area.She was at various times, a school teacher, Sunday school teacher, farm wife and the proprietor of Papke’s Sundries in Sabula from 1961 to 1980. She was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula. She also was a member of the board of directors of the Krabbenhoft Public Library in Sabula.

Survivors include one son; Richard (Anne) Papke of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Louis Raether of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

Memorials may be given to the Calvary Lutheran Church in her memory.
