SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating.

ANDREW — Arnold J. Brown, 84, of Andrew and formerly of Monmouth, Iowa, died Saturday at the Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by Maquoketa American Legion Post 75, Maquoketa VFW Post 3633 O’Connor-Regenwether and Andrew AMVETS Post 62.

He was born June 18, 1923, in Bellevue to Herman and Norma Lary Brown. He married Miriam Miller on Oct. 22, 1944, in Maquoketa. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and earned a Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium and received an honorable discharge on Sept. 24, 1945. He farmed in the Monmouth area from 1945 to 1977 before moving to Andrew. He then worked for Andrew schools as a custodian for 14 years. He was a member of Bellevue American Legion Post 273, Disabled American Veterans and the Joinerville Boat Club.

Survivors include his wife; children, Connie Anderson of Central City, Doug (Diana) Brown of Monmouth and Brenda Rumple (significant other, Doug Zeimet) of Andrew; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Aljean (Don) Crist of Maquoketa, Virginia (Wally) Groth of Davenport and Emma Louise Brown of Denver, Colo.; and one brother, Vernon (Pat) Brown of Littleton, Colo.
