SERVICES: Masonic service 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Stanley Bomgarden, Fulton Presbyterian Church, officiating.

FULTON — Russell E. Nelson, 94, of Fulton, died Friday at his home.Interment will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Clark, Kenneth Mathew, Ernest Eads, Ronald Koehn, Wayne Anglese and Kenneth Schaver.

He was born April 27, 1913, in Clinton, to Hjelmer and Katherine Christiansen Nelson. He married Ardelle Juhl on June 27, 1937, in Clinton; she died July 14, 2007. He was educated in the Clinton school system, and was a graduate of Clinton High School.He was employed as the Clinton and Illinois sales representative for the former Curtis Company. He then worked as the Illinois sales representative for the former Bennett Box Company. Later he started Builders Supply Company, Clinton, and the former Nelson Lumber Company, Fulton. He was a member of the former St. Stevens Lutheran Church, Clinton, Fulton Lions Club, 50-year member Fulton City Lodge No. 189, Fulton, and the Scottish Rite – Valley of Clinton, Orient of Iowa.

Survivors include one son, Roy (Mary Jo) Nelson, Fulton; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, Clinton. He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister, Jeanette Hoffman; and two brothers, Marvin and LeRoy Nelson.
