Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. H. Robert Harness officiating.

CALAMUS — Melvin D. Lange, 54, of Calamus, died Friday at his home. Burial be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus. Military rites will be held at the graveside by Magnus M. Peterson American Legion Post 466 of Calamus. Pallbearers will be Wayne Kilburg, Kyle Kilburg, Chris Lange, Rod Behrens, Mike Jacobsen and Dan Kalfas.

He was born July 15, 1953, in Davenport to Kathleen Denise Strodtman and Merle Melvin Lange. He married Rachael Stowers on Aug. 9, 1997, in Calamus. He was a graduate of Central Community Schools, DeWitt, in 1972. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Coronado for three years. He worked at Ennis Business Forms, DeWitt, for 27 years and most recently for Speedco in Walcott. He was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Magen Lange of Davenport; mother, Kathleen Bunce of Clinton; brothers, William (Darlene) Lange of Moultree, Ga., and Thomas (Sue) Lange of Davenport; sisters, Kathleen (Wayne) Kilburg of Clinton and Lori (Greg) Mickelson of Calamus; one stepdaughter, Michele (Michael) Allabastro; and one stepgrandchild.
