Eganhouse, Leland A.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. There will be an additional visitation Saturday one hour before the service time at the church.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, with the Rev. James Chappell officiating.

MONMOUTH, Iowa — Leland A. “Lee” Eganhouse, 75, of Monmouth, died Wednesday at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, with military honors accorded by American Legion Wapsi Post 473, Oxford Junction.

He was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Bellevue to Elmer and Amelia Kieffer Eganhouse. He married Jean McAndrew on June 29, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in the chief of staffs office in Japan. He farmed in Monmouth and Oxford Junction areas for more than 50 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa; and American Legion Wapsi Post 473, Oxford Junction. He received a private pilot’s license in 1969 and was a 4-H leader with the Oxford Livewires and Jones County 4-H County Committee.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mary Beth (Orv) Peiffer of Cedar Rapids, Patrice (Jim) Gumpert of Adel and Amy (Mike) Howes of McKinney, Texas; three sons, Eric (Carla) Eganhouse of Wyoming, Jon (Amy) Eganhouse of Maquoketa and Marty (Pam) Eganhouse of Springville; 16 grandchildren; and four brothers, Robert (Marilyn) Eganhouse of Pittsburg, Dr. Gerald (Barb) Eganhouse of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Thomas (Betty) Eganhouse of Naperville, Ill., and David (Janet) Eganhouse of Maquoketa.
