The Clinton Herald Saturday March 18, 1972 The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Church for John L. "Doc" Madden, 77, of 755 S. 9th St., who died Friday. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. that day in the Delaney Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home where St. Mary's Parish will recite the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Edward Hill, Homer Hoskinson, Eugene Machael, Sr., James Ocker, Norbert Trine and W.J. Wegener. John Leonard Madden was born Dec. 25, 1894, in Clinton to Martin and Emma Rowan Madden. He was reared and educated in Clinton and was married here Sept. 30, 1919, to Eleanor A. Miller. He retired from the North Western Railroad in 1960 as a chief clerk after 42 years' service. A verteran of World War I, he was a past commander of June Van Meter Post, American Legion. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the 40 and 8, and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Prentice W. (Phyllis) Shaw and Mrs. Walter W. (Lois) Kinnemann, Clinton; five grandchildren; four brothers, T.J. Madden of Davenport, F. Ray of Clinton, M. Ed of Minneapolis and C. Harry of Salem, Ore., and two sisters, Mrs. Regina Mangan, Clinton, and Mrs. Helen Landstrom, Sumner, Wash. A grandson preceded him in death.
