The Clinton Herald Thursday November 11, 1965 p. 15 Requiem high mass for Oran E. Evans, 67, formerly of Clinton, who died Wednesday in Chilium, Md., will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's church. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the Synder-Schmitz funeral home, where visitation begins at noon Friday. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. Evans was born Jan. 19, 1898, in Scott-Davis County, Ill., the son of Griffith and Anna Herdinreick Evans. He married Irene McGovern, Aug. 16, 1923, at St. Mary's church. A retired machinist for the Chicago and North Western railroad, he was a life member of Dewey Lodge 203, IA of M. He was secretary of the organization for 10 years. A 42 year member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 79, he had served as vice president for 25 years. He was a member of the Clinton Area Band and was a delegate to the national convention of AF of M. Surviving are four daughters, Sister Mary Natalie of Clinton, Mrs. Norman (Mary Ann) Walsh of New York City and Mrs. Samuel (Phyllis) Toner and Kathleen of Chilium; two sons, James Patrick of Framingham, Mass., and David J. of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Floyd of Mason City; and two sisters, Mrs. Bennet St. Louis of Glenn, Calif., and Mrs. Verle Jenkins of Oelwein. His wife, parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
