Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wendell Davelaar, pastor of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, officiating.

FULTON, Ill. — Clarence G. Dykstra, 79, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, died Tuesday at the nursing home.

Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery with military funeral honors.

He was born July 21, 1927, in Ustick Township, Ill., to Jacob J. and Pearl Huizenga Dykstra. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Frahm on Oct. 3, 1953, in Fulton. She died in 1969. He then married Marilyn Carpenter on March 26, 1970, in Fulton. He and his wife renewed their vows on Dec. 18, 1996.

He was educated in the Fulton schools.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 90th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War.

He retired from Laborers Local 309, Rock Island, Ill.

He was a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church, Fulton American Legion and Clinton AMVETS Post 28.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; four daughters, Mrs. Claudia Bognanno of Peoria, Ariz., Paula (Jeff) Rolston of Fulton, Sara (Mark) Johnson of Erie, Ill., and Sandra (Virgil) Hartman Jr. of Fulton; three sons, Glenn Dykstra and David Dykstra, both of Fulton and Stan (Marge) Rolston of Clinton; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Marian (Mrs. Elmer) Vogel of Fulton.

Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association and Harbor Crest Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, one sister and two brothers.
