Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Savanna, with the Rev. Philip Bigelow officiating.

SAVANNA, Ill. — Alta E. Hockman, 84, of Savanna, died Saturday at Mercy North Hospital.

Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery.

She was born April 19, 1922, to Joseph and Clara Haas Haring.

She attended Savanna schools.

She worked with General Electric, Morrison, Ill., for 27 years before retiring in 1986.

She was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She was a volunteer worker with Meals on Wheels, Savanna, for many years.

Survivors include one son, Terry (Deborah) Hockman of Savanna; two daughters, Linda Stricklin and Judy (Richard) Castro, both of Rock Falls, Ill.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Haring of Polo, Ill., and Beulah Haring of Burlington.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Savanna Ambulance Association in her name.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister.
