Donald Dale Ping

Donald Dale Ping, 71, of Dallas, formerly Clinton, IA, passed away January 19, 2007 in Dallas after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 11:00 am at Lemke Funeral Homes-South, 2600 Lincolnway, Clinton, IA. Cremation rites were accorded. Mourners may greet the family from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the funeral services February 3rd. The Rev. Dan Shadt will officiate. In lieu of flowers Don requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Mercy Hospice.

Donald was born July 28, 1935 in Prophetstown, IL to Cecil H. and Margaret L. (Frain) Ping. He graduated Prophetstown High School in 1954. He served in the Navy from 1954-1958 where he participated in the Koren War and held the military rank of 1st Class Petty Officer. Don worked for General Electric from 1963-1991. He was also a member of the Eagles Club in Clinton.

Don married Gloria Ann Harnden Jacobsen on August 5, 1967. She passed away in May of 2000. Don loved to be at an RV park with his wife, family and friends; hunting or golfing. He looked but never found anything or anybody to replace his beloved Gloria.

Donald is survived by his children: Don (Dana) Ping, Jr. of Dallas, TX; Tim (Cindy) Ping of Plano, TX; daughter Nancy (Kyle) Wells of St. Louis Park, MN; granddaughters: Shannon Boeckenstedt, Ashley Jacobsen, and Kristen Oelke; grandsons: Ross Ping, Tyler Ping, and Garrett Wells; and three great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Miller of Cannon City, CO; brother Steve (Terri) Ping, Bettendorf, IA, and his mother-in-law Ilene Harnden.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria, parents, son - Dennis Jacobsen, and sister Nancy St. Pier.
