Milo F. Cornelius

Visitation: Was Sunday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, Maquoketa.

MAQUOKETA — Milo F. Cornelius, 90, of Maquoketa, died Friday at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

He was born March 25, 1916, in Jackson County to Louis A. and Carrie K. Ostert Cornelius. He married Flossie L. Peterson on Sept. 24, 1942, in Dubuque. She died in 2003.

He was educated at Hoover Country School, east of Andrew.

He farmed east of Andrew from 1942 to 1976 when they moved to Andrew. In 2000, he and his wife moved to Maquoketa.

He was a resident at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa, since November of 2001.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Maquoketa, where he once served as a substitute Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his children, Judy (Carl) Ganzer of Maquoketa and Richard (Sharon) Cornelius of Fulton, Ill.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Harvey Peterson of Phoenix and Mahlon Peterson of Eau Claire, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Milo F. Cornelius Memorial Fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.
