The Clinton Advertisor Tuesday July 1, 1924 p. 12 Drops Dead; Was Resident of Clinton Former Newspaper Man Dies in Chicago Mrs. Lyle Jefferies has received word of the sudden death of her uncle, C.M. Burlingame of Chicago in that city last night. Mr. Burlingame was once a newspaper man here and was well known here. His wife was formerly Miss Jessie Sylvanus, daughter of a prominent Clinton family. A daughter Mary Adelaide, and a son Cyril survive also to brothers, Roy of Chicago and Dale of Winona, Minn. According to the information received here, Mr. Burlingame was in apparent good health until last evening. He arrived at his residence for dinner in the evening and seemed in the best of spirits. He was talking with his family when he suddenly dropped to the floor dead. Mr. Burlingame was associated with the Odd Fellows here, was a Royal Arch Mason and a member of the Baptist church. He had always been interested in printing and was engaged in that business in Chicago. He had worked on the old Weekly Age which existed here many years ago. Mr. Burlingame left Clinton for Chicago 15 years ago. The body is expected to arrive here at 1:30 Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning although no definite arrangement for services have yet been announced. Interment will be in Springdale cemetery.
