The Clinton Herald Friday April 27, 1934 Jens L. Bohnson, 1002 South Eighth street, for many years prominent in Clinton's business life, died at 11:45 o'clock last night in his home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning in the Bragonier chapel, with the Rev. W.T. Smith, D.D. pastor of the First Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Mr. Bohnson was born May 13, 1864, on the island of Pellworm of the Friesan group, Germany. He was the son of Bandick and Katherine (Jensen) Bohnson. He was educated in Germany and came to the United States in 1882, when he was 19 yeas of age. He married Miss Edith C. Durfee in 1889. Mr. Bohnson gained his early banking experience with G. Haywood & Son, bankers, and later was bookkeeper and secretary of the Fourth Street Building association. He served as teller and cashier of the Peoples Trust and Savings bank over a period of 30 years, finally retiring on account of illness. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Van L. Bohnson of Waynesboro, Va., and Roland D. Bohnson of Flint, Mich., and three brothers, Anton F. Bohnson and Bernard Bohnson, of Clinton, and Iver M. Bohnson of Portland, Ore. Mr. Bohnson was a member of Emulation lodge, 255, A.F.&A.M., DeMolay Consistory, A.A.S.R. Masons, America lodge 567, I.O.O.F., and the First Methodist church, of which he was a member of the board of trustees.
