Visitation: 9:30 a.m. until the service time today at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Judy Heinrich, pastor of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, officiating.
MAQUOKETA — Cecil W. Baresel, 90, of Maquoketa, died Friday at the Maquoketa Care Center.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
He was born Oct. 3, 1916, near Maquoketa to Will C. and Carrie Drumm Baresel. He married Florence C. Durkop on Aug. 22, 1940, in Maquoketa. She died in 2000.
He was a 1934 graduate of Maquoketa High School.
He farmed and sold farm seed in the Maquoketa area for many years before retiring to Maquoketa in 1968.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet (William) Spratte of Marion; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
A Cecil W. Baresel Memorial Fund has been established.
