Visitation: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport.

SERVICES: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

DAVENPORT — Ona B. Capan, 89, of Clinton, formerly of Davenport and Muscatine, died Thursday at Bluff Terrace Nursing Home, Clinton.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born May 12, 1917 in Eliza, Ill., to Harry J. and Minnie Johnson Miller.

She married Ralph Schmelzer. She later married John Capan.

She was employed with HJ Heinz, Muscatine, and later with Muscatine General Hospital.

Survivors include a son, Howard (Anna Mae) Schmelzer of Muscatine; daughters, Pat (John) Nazarenus, Casa Grande, Ariz.; Mary (Burdy) Voss of Ely, and Betty Bauer of Clinton; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Alberta Schmelzer of Muscatine, Bernice Paysen of Elvira and Delores Gritton of Russelville, Ark.; and a brother, Rusty Miller of Muscatine.

Memorials can be made to the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers and four sisters.

Death date: Dec. 28, 2006
