SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Elizabeth, with the Rev. Chris Kuhn officiating. Law-Jones Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

ELIZABETH, Ill. — Thelma M. Hopkins, 77, of Elizabeth, died Friday at her home.

Her body was donated to science.

She was born July 5, 1929, in rural Elizabeth to George and Bertha Wand Banwarth.

She attended Barett Contry School and graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1946. She married Howard Hopkins on June 15, 1946. He died in 1990.

She worked at the Elizabeth Nursing Home for 27 years.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Elizabeth.

Survivors include five daughters, Vicki (Tom) Ertmer of East Dubuque, Ill., Kathy (Karl) Richards of Lena, Ill., Betty (Mike) Harrenstein of Rib Lake, Wis., Mary (Ken) VanHauen of Pecatonica, Ill., and Lori Hopkins of Freeport, Ill.; one son, Bill Hopkins of Elizabeth; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosemary Murray of Galena, Ill., and Elsie Mae (Fred) Aide of Hazel Green, Wis.

A memorial fund has been established with Freeport Health Network Hospice in her name.
