Henry Charles Lamp, 79, Charlotte, Iowa, died Tuesday afternoon, December 19, 2006 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
Henry was born to Peter E. and Amelia (Christiansen) Lamp on March 1, 1927 in rural Charlotte. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. Henry attended school in “Plugtown” Community near Charlotte,and graduated from Charlotte Public School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952 in the Korean Conflict. Henry married the former Lois Smith on August 23, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. He farmed in the Charlotte area since 1954.
He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte, a retired member of Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Charlotte Public School Board. Henry loved to talk to and visit with friends and family and reminisce about the the days of his youth and going fishing. He took pride in working the soil, watching the crops grow and bringing in the harvest.
Survivors are his wife, Lois; sons, Pete (Jane) and Perry (Darlene) Lamp, Charlotte; daughters, Paula (John) Bryant, Eldridge, Iowa, and Penny, Arlington, Texas; a brother, Robert (Bonnie) Lamp, rural Charlotte; a sister, Leola (Eugene) Schmidt, Lost Nation; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Hannah, Aaron, Avery, Beth, Garrett and Holly; two aunts, Helen Stampe and Adeline Geffers. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Shelby Bryant, a grandson, Jamie Lamp and a niece, Marilyn Schmidt.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006. Service of Christian Burial 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Terry Ellis and The Rev. Dennis Arndt officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
Pallbearers will be Jim Paasch, Gary Schmidt, Joe Sparks, Emmett Machande, Bill Lamp, Jr. and Wade Lamp. Honorary pallbearers will be George Busch, Bill Lamp, Sr. Roger Kleppe, Dick Grimm, Harry Wiese, LeRoy Lamp and Roy Sparks.
