Luella Zella Libberton Skiles

Visitation: 10 a.m. until the service time Friday at Community United Church of Christ, Savanna.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

SAVANNA, Ill. — Luella Zella Libberton Skiles, 93, of Savanna, died Sunday at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mount Carroll, Ill.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

She was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Mount Carroll to Will R. and Florence Hicks Libberton. She married Clyde Skiles on Dec. 1, 1934, in Bloomington, Ill. He died in 1985.

She attended Mount Carroll schools and attended Dekalb (Ill.) College of Teaching.

She was a member of the Palisades Women’s Club, Savanna.

She worked with the Savanna Army Depot during World War II and the Korean War. She also was employed as a cook with the State of Illinois Boys Youth Camp, Savanna, before retiring in 1973.

Survivors include two daughters, Florence (Marvin) Brandt of Clinton and Evelyn Rannow of Savanna; two sons, Frank (Sharon) Skiles of Slidell, La., and Raymond (Joanne) Skiles of Savanna; six brothers, Peter Libberton of Lanark, Ill., Neil (Mary) Libberton of Mount Carroll, Charles (Jane) Libberton of Planet City, Fla., Sid (Norma) Libberton of Stockton, Ill., and Russell (Janet) Libberton and Alvin (Alverda) Libberton, both of Savanna; one sister, Sarah Schmidt of Mount Carroll; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
