CLINTON — Grace Ann Whalen, 85, of Clinton, died Sunday at her home.
Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Grace Kramer, Luke Thomsen, Andy Whalen, Kate Determann, Seth Knickrehm, Jordan Whalen, Emily Knickrehm and Breanna Whalen.
She was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Maquoketa to Bryon Lee and Hilda Rose Ray Matthews. She married Robert Lee Whalen on Aug. 24, 1941, in Clinton. He died in 1997.
She graduated from Clinton High School in 1939.
She was a secretary with Climax Engines, Clinton, for many years.
She also worked with the Maquoketa School District and Medical Clinic.
She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish where she volunteered at the gift shop.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Thomsen of Clinton and Laurie (Doug) Knickrehm of Maquoketa; two sons, Joseph Whalen of San Francisco and Allen (Darcy) Whalen of Clinton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Virginia Roessler and Mary (Don) Davis, both of Clinton, and Carol (Gary) Zaiser of Newark, Del.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one grandchild and two brothers.
