Clinton Age
27 Jan 1905

As briefly mentioned yesterday, G. R. PINNEY, formerly of Clinton, passed away at his home in East Clinton Thursday morning, January 26th.

He had learned and followed the carpenter's trade for many years, until failing health compelled him to abandon it and take up market gardening. On December 9, 1903, twenty-six months ago, he was laid low by a paralytic stroke and has been virtually helpless since. He had been unconscious since Sunday last.

(There is a line missing here)...circulated the petition for the North Clinton Mission, securing twelve names. From this small beginning grew the Bowman M. E. Church. He has all his life been associated with church work. He stood well with his fellow men, had their respect and esteem at all times and their sympathies in his latter troubles.

He leaves besides his wife, one daughter, Mrs. F. E. SNYDER of Rock Falls, Ill., and two sons, Alvin E. PINNEY of Lyons and J. S. PINNEY, whose present whereabouts are not known here.

The funeral will take place from his son's residence, 413 South Fourth street, Lyons, at 2:30 this afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev. Robert A. MILLER, pastor of Bowman M. E. church, of Clinton.
