Funeral Held This Afternoon

Services Will be Performed Over Remains of Thomas M'GLOON Today.

Sixty Friends and Relatives Accompany Remains From Chicago to This City.

The remains of the late Tom MCGLOON arrived in the city last evening on the Milwaukee accompanied by sixty friends of the deceased. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at St. Mary's church at 2 p.m.

The death of the young man who was just in the prime of life was one of the saddest. It was just before six o'clock when Tom and his companion were about to quit for the day when an engine came along and Tom sprang to throw the switch and was about to step out of way when he slipped and fell under the wheels severing his body just below the hips.

He was tenderly picked up by his comrade and carried a distance away from where the accident occurred. A doctor was summoned and did everything in his power to save the dying boy but to no purpose.

The first words he uttered when he became conscious were "My poor mother and her so sick." He lived for nearly three hours and the parting with his comrades was pitiful, he was perfectly conscious, and after bidding good bye to the grieved ones around him his soul passed into the care of that great and beloved father who loves and watches over all.

The young man was born in the city of Clinton and would have been twenty one years of age the 11th of next May. His friends were many and ? and the deep sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved parents, especially to the mother who lies ill in bed at this writing.

He leaves to mourn his loss his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Tom MCGLOON, and five brothers.
