Treesa F. Barker

Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Maquoketa, with the Rev. Norman Hieman officiating.

MAQUOKETA — Treesa F. Barker, 83, of Maquoketa, died Friday at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.

Burial will be in the Andrew Cemetery.

She was born May 29, 1923, in Mountainburg, Ark., to Roy and Mona Young Hendrix. She married Claude A. Barker on Sept. 15, 1938, in Mountainburg. He died in 2000.

She had been an employee of the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa for 26 years. She worked in the housekeeping department for three years and then earned her Certified Nurses Aide certificate and worked as a CNA for 23 years, retiring in April 1985.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maquoketa, the Maquoketa VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include two sons, Alvin (Shirley) Barker of Davenport and Allen Barker of Maquoketa; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Treesa F. Barker Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, three brothers and two granddaughters.
