Michael M. Gruca

Michael M. Gruca, age 76, of Manor Care in Davenport, formerly of Clinton, died on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Harold Stansbarger, Bill Hansen and Steve Mumm. Honorary pallbearers include: James Stansbarger and Kayla Hansen. Friends may call on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services at the funeral home.

Michael was born on September 4, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Martin and Victoria (Kruk) Gruca. He was united in marriage to Marie Meyer on October 16, 1950 in Camanche. She preceded him in death on August 17, 1971. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne.

Michael had worked for Clinton Corn Processing for 28 years and then later worked for 10 years for the Commission on Aging for Senior Iowans in Davenport. He retired in 1989 from the City of Davenport as a manager of elderly apartments.

Survivors include: 2 daughters: Christine (Harold) Stansbarger of Camanche, IA, Catharine Hansen of Camanche, IA, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother: Andrew (Mary) Gruca of Chicago, IL, 1 sister: Eugenia (Frank) Jagiello of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 grandchild.
