Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at Lahey Funeral Home, Wyoming.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming, with the Rev. Timothy Miller officiating.

ONSLOW — Eugene R. Krieger, 78, of Onslow, died Friday at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with military honors.

He was born Dec. 28, 1927, in Mason City to Richard and Ida Albers Krieger. He married Ileta P. Brown on Jan. 6, 1952, in Mason City.

He received a degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University.

He served in the U.S. Army during Wold War II and the Korean War as a radioman and a machine gunner where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He was an environmental control engineer with Dubuque Pack and FDL before retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming, and was a Master Gardener. He also served as secretary for the Republican party in Jones County.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Curtis (Cathy) Krieger of Mason City, Richard (Cheryl) Krieger of Virginia Beach, Va., Kevin (Cathy) Krieger of Auburn, Neb., Gregory (Donna) Krieger of Hazel Green, Wis., and Eric Krieger of Dubuque; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy (Victor) Wenger of Onalaska, Wis., and Gretchen (Delmar) Sparks of Richfield, Wash.; and two brothers, Roland (Pat) Krieger and Dennis (Diana) Krieger, both of Iowa Falls.

Memorials may be made to Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming, or Hospice of Dubuque.
