Services: 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with a family gathering at Hinton United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

SLEEPY EYE — Eva Mae Weinrich Dixon, 85, of Sleepy Eye and formerly of Hinton, died Thursday at the Fairfax Community Home.

She was born May 13, 1921, in Hinton to Ora and Bessie Thompson Weinrich. She married John Dixon on Sept. 19, 1942 in San Diego. He died in 2003.

She was a Hinton High School graduate.

She and her husband owned and operated the D&J Cafe in Hinton. She later worked for the Zenith Corp. in Sioux City and the Sioux City Public Library.

Survivors include a son, John (Roxann) Dixon of Camanche; daughter, Gwen (Karl) Papierniak of New Ulm; a she sister raised as a daughter from an early age, Shirley (Bob) McKim of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Francis Hanson of Le Mars and Dorothy (Joe) McKay of Windsor, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six brothers and sisters.

Death date: Nov. 2, 2006
