Frances L. Troxel Barhite

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Clinton Chapel of the Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Troy Rife officiating.

CLINTON — Frances L. Troxel Barhite, 84, of Clinton, died Sunday at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, Ill.

Burial will be in Elvira Cemetery.

She was born March 27, 1922, in Milburn, Neb., to Major Gates and Eleanor Gilligan. Her foster parents were John and Margaret Rowan. She married David Troxel on Aug. 16, 1941, in Springview, Neb. He died in 1965. She later married Robert Barhite in Owensboro, Ky., on Dec. 7, 1973. He died in 1978.

She graduated from Broken Bow (Neb.) High School in 1940.

She was a receptionist at the YMCA and YWCA.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and its Women’s Ministry. She also was a member of the Y.W.C.A. and the Mature and Motivated Club.

Survivors include two sons, Sidney Troxel of Broken Bow and Keith Troxel of Preston; two daughters, Keitha Troxell of Oskaloosa and Debra Stange of Fulton; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son and one brother.

Death date: Oct. 29, 2006
